1. Who we are and what this policy covers

This policy is issued by S S Builders London Ltd, trading as SS Builders Group, of Chadwell Heath, RM6 ("we", "us"). It explains what cookies and similar technologies — including localStorage and third-party embedded content — are used on www.ssbuildersgroup.co.uk (the "Site"), why, and what control you have.

It is written to satisfy the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) and, where any stored information is personal data, the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. It should be read with our Privacy Policy.

2. The short version

This Site sets no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies, and no tracking pixels. It does not fingerprint your device, and it contains no social media buttons that phone home.

It stores exactly one thing itself — your answer to the cookie notice — and it can load exactly one piece of third-party content, a Google map on the contact page, which only loads if you allow it.

3. What the Site itself stores

One item, in your browser's localStorage (a storage technology governed by the same PECR rules as cookies): a key named "ssb-consent-v1", whose value is either "accepted" or "essential". It records the choice you made on the consent notice so that we do not ask you on every page. It contains no identifier, is not transmitted to us or anyone else, and never leaves your browser.

Storing this preference is strictly necessary for honouring your choice, which is why the notice itself does not require prior consent under PECR regulation 6(4). It persists until you clear your browser data. To reset it, clear this site's data in your browser settings and the notice will reappear.

4. Third-party content: the Google map

Our contact page can display an embedded Google Map showing our base in Chadwell Heath. Embedded Google content sets Google's own cookies and receives your IP address, and Google acts as an independent controller of that data under its own privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy).

Because of that, the map does not load by default. It loads only if you chose "Allow all" on the consent notice, or press the "Load the map" button on the contact page itself. If you chose "Essential only", you see a placeholder and our address in plain text instead — you lose nothing except the tiles.

5. What we deliberately do not use

No Google Analytics or any other analytics platform. No advertising or retargeting cookies (Meta Pixel, Google Ads and similar). No session-recording or heat-mapping tools. No A/B-testing frameworks. No third-party fonts loaded at page view that disclose your IP to a font network — our typefaces are served from our own hosting via the build.

If we ever introduce any such technology, this policy will be updated first, the consent notice will reappear with a genuine choice, and nothing non-essential will run before you make it.

6. Links that leave the Site

Buttons such as “WhatsApp us” open the WhatsApp service (operated by WhatsApp LLC / Meta) in a new tab or app. No WhatsApp code runs on this Site and no data is shared with WhatsApp by us — but once you are on their service, their privacy policy applies. The same is true of any external link, including Google Maps when opened directly.

7. How the consent notice works

"Allow all" permits the Google map to load on the contact page. "Essential only" keeps everything third-party blocked. Both choices are one click, presented with equal prominence, and no non-essential content loads before you choose — a notice designed to meet the ICO's guidance on consent under PECR.

You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser, which resets the notice, or by using the load button on the contact page to grant consent for the map alone.

8. Server logs

Like effectively every website, the server that hosts this Site keeps short-lived technical logs (IP address, requested URL, timestamp, user agent) generated automatically by the hosting infrastructure for security and capacity purposes. These are processed under legitimate interests, are not used to profile visitors, and are retained only for the hosting provider's standard rotation period.

Any change to what this Site stores will be reflected here before it takes effect, with the date below updated. Questions about this policy can be raised with us directly.
